A violent incident at the Oklahoma State Fair this past Saturday led to the early end of Vince Neil’s performance, creating a night of shock and fear for fairgoers. An individual was seriously injured during a heated altercation between two groups, which escalated into gunfire, according to authorities.
The Oklahoma City Police Department arrested a suspect on charges of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting. Initially, two individuals were detained, but one has since been released, said Lt. Jeff Cooper. The identity of the detained suspect has not yet been disclosed.
The person who was injured is currently in a critical state in the hospital. Capt. Valerie Littlejohn mentioned that the frightening situation intensified when additional shots were fired into the air as people began fleeing the scene.
Despite the presence of security measures and detectors at the entrance of the fairgrounds, where firearms are not allowed, the incident still took place.
Vince Neil, the former lead singer of Mötley Crüe, was performing at the Chickasaw Country Entertainment Stage when the gunfire began. Neil took to social media to describe the harrowing moment, saying, “Three-fourths of the way through the set, people started running. We were advised to retreat to our dressing room due to an active shooter.”
In a follow-up post, Neil thanked his fans for their understanding and advised everyone to stay safe. He confirmed that everyone in his crew was unharmed.
