In a turn of events that has echoed through the halls of music venues across Australia and New Zealand, The Weeknd has announced the postponement of his much-anticipated After Hours Til Dawn Tour. Fans were primed for the imminent concerts, which were set to launch in just two weeks.
A representative for the artist provided fans with an update via emails sent from ticket providers, relaying The Weeknd’s sentiments: “Unexpected circumstances have led us to reschedule the tour dates in Australia and New Zealand. We are aiming to announce the new dates next year, with all existing tickets remaining valid for the rescheduled shows. For those who find themselves unable to attend the new dates, refunds will be available. Though I’m deeply disappointed, I am eager to see you all soon!”
Ticketek, an Australian ticketing firm, also shared the news on The Weeknd’s tour webpage, alongside a statement from Live Nation Australia & New Zealand which reads: “We share the fans’ disappointment, but rest assured, we are dedicated to coordinating with The Weeknd to establish a new tour schedule. An update will be issued as soon as we finalize the details.”
The celebrated “Blinding Lights” artist was poised to embark on an 11-show series across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland, a tour spanning from November 20 to December 9, as per details on his official website. The After Hours Til Dawn Tour is a celebration of his chart-topping albums “After Hours” (2020) and “Dawn FM” (2022), which have both enjoyed the pinnacle of the ARIA Albums Chart, adding to his history of No. 1 albums in Australia.
Originally, Mike Dean and Chxrry22, who is under The Weeknd’s XO Records label, were scheduled to support the tour. Previously, Dean and Kaytranada opened for The Weeknd’s shows in Latin America, which concluded its run on October 25 in Zapopan, Mexico.
The news comes as a surprise to fans who were gearing up for the performances, but with The Weeknd’s track record of mesmerizing live shows, the anticipation for the new dates is sure to keep the excitement alive.
