Teddy Swims Breaks Billboard Record with “Lose Control” — and Yes, We’re Crying

Teddy Swims Has Officially “Lost Control” of the Billboard Charts (And We’re Here for It)

Alright folks, it’s official — Teddy Swims just body-slammed Billboard history, and did it with all the grace of a mullet-sporting angel covered in soul-drenched tattoos. His heartbreaker of a hit, “Lose Control,” just became the longest-charting song ever on the Billboard Hot 100, clocking in at a mind-bending 92 weeks. That’s right — this track has lived on the chart longer than some of our bad decisions, and that’s saying something.

Let’s rewind: “Lose Control” dropped back in June 2023, long before we knew it would become the emotional support anthem of our entire generation. Now it’s the undisputed heavyweight champion of the Hot 100, dethroning Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” for most weeks on the chart and racking up 63 of those weeks in the top 10 alone.

Teddy, ever the humble soul, marked the milestone with a simple “Let’s go!!!!!!” on Instagram, followed by a heartfelt thank-you to Warner Records CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck. And in true rockstar-meets-good-boy fashion, he gave all the credit “BY GOD.” Amen, brother.

If that wasn’t enough, Swims also celebrated the occasion by getting a new tattoo — and no, not some trendy minimalist design or angel wings. He got a full-on Joe Dirt portrait inked on him. We didn’t know it was possible to love this man more. Turns out, it was.

Swims is currently on tour for his second therapy-themed masterpiece, I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 2), which hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 back in January. He just wrapped back-to-back shows at NYC’s legendary Radio City Music Hall, and if you’ve seen him live, you know his voice could bring a biker gang to tears.

Here at Static Live Magazine, we just want to say — Teddy deserves every ounce of recognition he’s getting. The man’s a powerhouse vocalist, a humble southern soul, and a walking ballad who’s still somehow relatable even while he breaks chart records and gets tattoos of cult movie icons.
