Nine years after its initial release in 2014, Taylor Swift reintroduces the world to her iconic album ‘1989’, but this time with a touch of reinvention. At the stroke of midnight on October 27th, Swift’s revamped ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ made its debut, blessing Swifties with not just the original tracklist but with added gems.
This eagerly awaited re-release retains all 13 foundational songs and complements them with three bonus tracks: “Wonderland,” “New Romantics,” and “You Are In Love.” Keeping with her recent trend of unearthing previously shelved “Vault” songs, this edition introduces fans to tracks like “Is It Over Now?,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” and “Suburban Legends” among others.
The build-up to this album has been a symphony of anticipation. The pop legend treated fans to glimpses of lyrics from the vaulted tracks, sharing handwritten snippets on her Instagram Stories – a notable line being, “I broke my own heart ’cause you were too polite to do it.”
‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ marks the fourth in a series of six Taylor’s Version albums, with only her 2006 debut and 2017’s ‘Reputation’ remaining. Earlier in the year, Swift has graced fans with remastered versions of ‘Fearless’, ‘Red’, and ‘Speak Now’.
The singer had expressed her immense excitement for this release during her August Eras Tour, later sharing on social media how transformative the ‘1989’ album was for her. Emphasizing her passion for this re-record, Swift mentioned, “The 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind.”
