The punk rock ensemble, Sum 41, revered for chartbusters like Fat Lip and Motivation, declared on Monday that they are parting ways after a remarkable journey of 27 years.
However, before taking their final bow, the band reassures fans that they will fulfill their ongoing U.S. tour commitments and launch their album Heaven :x: Hell, which will be followed by an exclusive international tour.
“Sum 41 has been an integral part of our lives since 1996, gifting us with unforgettable moments,” the band shared on Twitter. “Our deepest gratitude goes out to our loyal fanbase, both old and new, for their unwavering support. The immense love and respect we harbor for all of you is hard to put into words, and we wanted you to hear this news straight from us.”
Hailing from Canada, the band’s lineup includes Deryck Whibley at the helm, Dave Brownsound as the lead guitarist, Tom Thacker as the co-lead guitarist, Cone McCaslin on bass, and Frank Zummo behind the drums.
Their breakout single, Fat Lip, off their debut album All Killer No Filler, held a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks in 2001, reaching its peak at No. 66. Over the years, Sum 41 has sold millions of albums worldwide and their music has been a vital influence in the punk rock genre.
