Rob Thomas Heads Down Under With New Album & 20 Years of Solo Swagger
If “Smooth” still lives rent-free in your head (and let’s be honest—it should), then buckle up, Australia and New Zealand. Rob Thomas is packing his bags, polishing the Matchbox, and heading your way this fall with a tour that promises to be equal parts nostalgic and electrifying.
This October and November, the Matchbox Twenty frontman is launching a solo headline run in celebration of his upcoming album All Night Days and the 20th anniversary of his chart-topping solo debut …Something to Be. That’s two decades of solo bangers—plus a few iconic band favorites—and he’s ready to give fans a career-spanning setlist that might just leave your soul bleeding (in the best way possible).
Tour Highlights:
- Two-night kickoff in Perth’s Riverside Theatre (Oct. 24–25)
- Stops in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane
- Crosses the Tasman Sea for three epic NZ shows in Auckland, Christchurch & Wellington
Expect to hear all the essentials: “Lonely No More,” “This Is How a Heart Breaks,” and that legendary Santana collab “Smooth”—which remains, scientifically speaking, the actual definition of the word “cool.” Add in Matchbox Twenty staples like “Unwell” and “3AM,” and you’ve got yourself the perfect excuse to ditch responsibilities and chase rock-n-roll catharsis.
Joining Thomas on select dates are some of the best in local talent: Boy & Bear, Eskimo Joe, Little Quirks, and Sara Berki. Translation? You’re getting a full night of music, heart, and that unmistakable voice that’s aged like a fine whiskey.
So, if you’re anywhere near a continent named Australia or New Zealand, don’t sleep on this one.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, May 29 at noon local time. Full details at frontiertouring.com.
Oh, and if you’re stuck stateside—don’t worry, Rob. Your Florida fans still have your voice on every breakup playlist ever created. Until the U.S. leg drops, grab the Static Live Music Calendar App, discover shows near you, and maybe win free tickets to the next big fest (you never know… ).
