The superstar presents a unique acoustic set featuring tracks from his latest album “Austin.”
The NPR offices had a musical treat this week, with the iconic Post Malone gracing their Tiny Desk Concert series. This appearance follows the release of his fresh album, “Austin.”
Throughout his performance, Posty’s voice had a raw, husky quality. He humorously attributed this to his ongoing tour, “If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying.” Acknowledging his nerves and the state of his voice, he thanked the audience, saying, “I appreciate you guys listening despite my voice being ‘balls’ right now.”
The singer-songwriter began his set with the chart-topping “Sunflower,” a track from the “Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse” soundtrack, which once dominated the 2019 Billboard Hot 100. Diving deeper into emotions, he then delivered a moving rendition of his 2017 hit “I Fall Apart,” accompanied by a string quartet and backup vocalists.
Mid-set, Post Malone expressed gratitude to the intimate crowd, remarking, “Thank you for being so welcoming.”
Continuing his performance, the 28-year-old star presented “Circles,” another Billboard Hot 100 leader, and concluded with “Enough Is Enough” from his latest “Austin” album. Throughout the show, Post showcased his musical versatility by sticking to acoustic guitar, giving a rootsy touch to his classics.
Post admitted his nerves post-performance, sharing, “I’m sweating so much; it felt surreal.”
“Austin” made quite a splash upon its release, climbing the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts, and securing the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200. Amidst his busy touring routine, Post Malone has been zealously championing his album with appearances on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1 and Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast.
