In a surprising turn of events, the Pentagon has addressed a peculiar conspiracy theory aired on Fox News. Host Jesse Watters recently hinted at pop icon Taylor Swift potentially being utilized for secret political motives, sparking a unique response from the Department of Defense.
According to Politico, the Pentagon issued a playful rebuttal on Wednesday (Jan. 9), utilizing Swift’s own lyrics to counter the claims. Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh whimsically remarked, “As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off,” echoing the sentiments of Swift’s popular hit, “Shake It Off.”
Singh didn’t stop there, continuing the Swift-themed puns: “This also emphasizes our need for Congress to promptly approve our supplemental budget request, ensuring we are out of the woods concerning potential fiscal concerns.”
Despite the outlandish suggestion from Fox News that Swift might be a hidden political operative, the singer has indeed been active in promoting civic engagement. On Election Day, she took to her Instagram Story, encouraging fans to vote and use their voices, particularly in states like Colorado, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.
Swift also urged voters to educate themselves on their ballots beforehand, directing them to Vote.org’s See What’s on Your Ballot tool. This initiative is part of her ongoing collaboration with Vote.org, a non-partisan organization dedicated to increasing voter turnout and reaching marginalized and underrepresented communities.
