Cardi B has gone from winning Grammys to yelling at you for hogging the subway steps — and honestly, we’re here for it. In her latest Bronx-girl-meets-MTA moment, Cardi recorded a series of PSAs reminding New Yorkers how not to be absolute menaces underground.
Among the highlights:
- “We’re walking here!” (move over, Al Pacino, Cardi owns this line now)
- “Steps are for stepping, not sitting. Move it, Bucko!” (half PSA, half Bronx auntie energy)
- “Stop subway surfing. Ride safe, keep it cute, and keep it moving.” (translation: if you die doing dumb TikTok stunts on the F train, don’t blame Cardi)
- And, the kicker: “These trains don’t move without you, so make sure you pay that fare and keep it real.” (Sorry fare-jumpers, Cardi just snitched.)
This collab with the MTA comes hot off the heels of her new album Am I the Drama? which dropped September 19. To prove her point, Cardi literally rode the subway and sold CDs vendor-style — because apparently Atlantic Records’ marketing team has the same budget as a Times Square Elmo.
Let’s not forget, this is the same Cardi who became the first female rapper to win Best Rap Album at the Grammys (Invasion of Privacy), racked up 5 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s, and broke streaming records with WAP. Now she’s also the subway’s resident etiquette cop. Billie Eilish may have told fans to “ditch the car” last year, but Billie never called anyone “Bucko.” Advantage: Cardi.
So next time you’re in NYC, don’t even think about sprawling across three seats or blocking the doors. Cardi B is listening. And she will roast you over the loudspeaker.
Meanwhile, if you want music without subway delays, the Static Live Music Calendar App has the gigs lined up in Daytona, Ormond, New Smyrna, Flagler, and soon beyond. Download it and skip the MTA drama entirely.
