Michelle Zauner, the frontwoman of the band Japanese Breakfast, was thrilled to discover that Jung Kook of BTS is an admirer of hers. Zauner expressed her delight upon learning that the BTS singer acquired her 2021 memoir, ‘Crying in H Mart,’ during his recent interactive session with fans.
In a Weverse Live session that lasted close to two hours, Jung Kook casually disclosed to fans that he had bought Zauner’s New York Times bestselling memoir, even showing the book on camera during the live session.
Upon learning about Jung Kook’s endorsement of her book, Zauner couldn’t hide her excitement. She shared on her Instagram Story, “Excuse me Jung Kook has bought a copy of Crying in H Mart!!!!!” She also reposted a tweet on her Twitter that alerted BTS fans about Jung Kook’s support for her book and added multiple excited exclamation marks to it.
The future holds exciting things for ‘Crying in H Mart’ as it is set to be transformed into a movie. Zauner is currently conducting an open casting call to identify the actor who will portray her in the film. Will Sharpe, known for his role in ‘White Lotus,’ was recently announced as the director of the upcoming movie.
In an Instagram post, Zauner expressed her happiness over finding Sharpe as the director, saying, “I am so relieved to have found Will Sharpe and am beyond delighted that he will be the director of Crying in H Mart.” She added, “His work on Flowers and The Electrical Life of Louis Wain demonstrate his ability to evoke deep, vulnerable performances and to find humor and grace within the tragedy of the everyday. These unique talents make him the perfect fit for this film.
