Mariah Carey’s “Type Dangerous” Is Glammed-Up Chaos, Featuring a MrBeast Cameo That Thankfully Doesn’t Last
You’ve got to hand it to Mariah Carey — she knows how to make an entrance… and apparently, an exit for YouTubers. The self-declared Queen of Christmas (who, thankfully, took a break from holiday jingles this time) just dropped her new single “Type Dangerous,” and the video is exactly what you’d expect if RuPaul directed a Bond film and said, “Make it extra.”
Let’s be honest, Mariah is a little past the point of singing like she’s in a CW teen drama — but if anyone’s going to sashay through a glitter-covered breakup in seven acts while evaporating MrBeast with a look, it’s going to be her.
Directed by Joseph Kahn (yes, the guy behind every over-the-top 2000s pop music video ever), the “Type Dangerous” short film includes appearances by “Mr. Player,” “Mr. Danger,” “Mr. Traitor,” and of course — in Act 7 — Mr. Beast himself. But don’t blink, because she vaporizes him quicker than your YouTube ad skip button. Honestly, it’s the best use of MrBeast in media since… well, ever.
The lyrics are vintage Carey: “I don’t have time for the rigamarole.” Neither do we, Mariah, especially when it involves influencers acting like recording artists. We’ll forgive the diva drama though, because at least it isn’t another rendition of All I Want For Christmas Is You (we still have PTSD from holiday retail jobs).
Mariah’s last real album, Caution, came out in 2018 and charted in the top 5. She’s been teasing MC16 — the long-awaited follow-up — and honestly, we’re kinda ready for it… as long as she keeps MrBeast off the deluxe edition.
Until then, you can watch the full video and decide for yourself if this is art, performance, or just a glam-tinted fever dream.
