Controversial rap-rocker Kid Rock opened up about his recent encounter with Anheuser-Busch’s CEO Brendan Ball Whitworth during UFC 295. Accompanied by former President Donald Trump, Rock expressed his discontent with Bud Light’s support for trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News, Rock recounted the confrontation, stating, “Trump and I had this conversation with Whitworth. I expressed my views on Bud Light supporting lifestyles that, for many like me, are controversial. Particularly, the inclusion of men in women’s sports and gender discussions in schools really hit a nerve.”
Kid Rock, known for his hit “Only God Knows Why,” previously sparked headlines in April after posting a video of himself shooting a case of Bud Light. He reacted to a promotional video by Mulvaney, which showcased a Bud Light can with her image. “I simply said ‘eff you’ to Anheuser-Busch,” Rock clarified during the interview. “It’s about their participation in polarizing social issues when they could focus on uniting and entertaining.”
Despite his stance, Rock emphasized his ability to co-exist with the transgender and gay communities. “Be true to yourself. I’m okay with anyone as long as there’s mutual respect. However, involving children in these complex discussions is where I draw the line,” he added.
Rock’s statements come amidst a rising tide of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the U.S., particularly targeting transgender youths’ rights in sports and schools. This legislative push has coincided with a marked increase in anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes, as reported by the FBI. Contrary to Rock’s assertions, research from The Trevor Project indicates that such legislation is linked to heightened suicide risks among LGBTQ+ youth.
