Kevin Jonas is on the mend following a medical procedure to remove a basal cell carcinoma from his forehead. The Jonas Brothers guitarist shared his experience through an Instagram video, aiming to raise awareness about skin cancer and the importance of regular check-ups.
In the video released on Tuesday (June 11), Jonas displayed the affected area on his forehead and discussed his diagnosis. “This little guy turned out to be basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer,” he explained, showing the reddish mark near his hairline before the procedure. The video also captured moments post-surgery, featuring Jonas with bandages as he shared updates during his ride home. “Surgery’s done, now it’s healing time,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of skin checks, “Everyone, make sure to get those moles checked.”
Basal cell carcinoma, as noted by the Mayo Clinic, typically arises from prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, manifesting as a translucent bump on the sun-exposed skin, though it can vary in appearance. This cancer type generally begins in the basal cells which produce new skin cells.
Kevin’s health scare comes during a brief hiatus in the Jonas Brothers’ current tour, which is set to resume in August with performances in Mexico, followed by a European leg.
Kevin Jonas’s proactive approach not only highlights his journey but also serves as a critical reminder of the risks of skin cancer and the importance of preventive skin care.
