The latest album is a galactic journey showcasing collaborations with the industry’s finest.
In a vivid display of his musicianship, Jon Batiste’s latest offering, “World Music Radio,” serves as a testament to his prowess as a bandleader. The Grammy-decorated U.S. artist recently launched this album, rich with more than an hour of tantalizing collaborations.
The star-studded LP brings together the likes of Lana Del Rey, Lil Wayne, Kenny G, Jon Bellion, Fireboy DML, J.I.D., and NewJeans. Moreover, alongside Batiste and Bellion, Ryan Lynn has added his flair as an executive producer.
Batiste had previously painted a picture of the album’s concept, noting, “World Music Radio is set amidst the vast stretches of the cosmos. Guided by an intergalactic griot, Billy Bob Bo Bob, listeners will embark on a sonic adventure around the globe at light speed.”
Sharing his enthusiasm at the album’s release, Batiste expressed, “This project holds a special place in my heart, and my gratitude extends to every artist who joined me on this journey.”
This release follows Batiste’s groundbreaking success two years ago when he became the first Black artist in 14 years to clinch the Grammy for Album of the Year with his eclectic “We Are.” His accolades at the 2022 Grammys were substantial, raking in five awards out of 11 nominations. His trophy shelf also gleams with an Academy Award for Best Original Score, a nod to his brilliant collaboration on 2020’s “Soul” with Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
Many recognize Batiste from his tenure as the bandleader for “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” a role he gracefully performed for seven seasons. He has since shifted his focus to deepen his imprint in the music world.
With a track record of charting on the Billboard 200, Batiste’s “Social Music” and “We Are” stand as testaments to his evolving legacy in the industry. Stream “World Music Radio” below.
