British author and television producer, David Whelan, has presented compelling evidence that suggests two guns may have been involved in the tragic murder of Beatles icon, John Lennon. Unearthing previously unseen official documents, Whelan reports two distinct types of bullets were extracted from Lennon’s body post his fatal shooting on December 8, 1980.
This discovery has fueled Whelan’s theory of a ‘second shooter’ involved in the infamous event. Whelan had previously unearthed a collection of captivating documents connected to the night of Lennon’s murder, as the musician and his wife, Yoko Ono, returned to their residence in New York’s Dakota Building.
Through his three-year investigation, Whelan has exposed numerous inconsistencies that question the accepted narrative of Lennon’s shooting. His latest revelation focuses on the bullets recovered from Lennon’s body and the crime scene.
Surprisingly, only two ‘slugs’ were logged as evidence, despite reports of Mark Chapman, Lennon’s known assailant, having fired his five-chamber ‘.38 special’ revolver, with four bullets striking Lennon. The fate of the remaining three bullets remains a mystery.
However, the two bullets retrieved from Lennon’s autopsy raise compelling questions. As Whelan notes, each is identified as being a different type. One, marked as a ‘.38 cal.SWC’ or ‘Semi-wadcutter’ bullet on the morgue’s receipt, is designed to expand upon impact. The other bullet is simply listed as a ‘.38 cal lead bullet’.
Despite the potential for a single revolver to hold different bullet types, Whelan claims it unlikely. He points to Chapman’s insistence on using hollow point wadcutter bullets, given Chapman’s familiarity with firearms from his tenure as a security guard.
Whelan told MailOnline, “The discovery of different bullet types in John Lennon’s body is a seismic revelation. Perhaps this explains why Lennon’s autopsy has remained confidential, respecting the Lennon family’s wishes to maintain its privacy.” This striking discrepancy strengthens Whelan’s belief in the ‘second shooter’ theory.
Whelan, 56, has engaged with several individuals associated with the aftermath of Lennon’s shooting, including the surgeon and two assisting nurses, as well as various other witnesses. Their accounts seemingly challenge the prosecution’s accepted narrative, fraught with contradictions.
Notably, his witnesses suggest that the recorded details of the shooting may be incorrect, arguing that Lennon was shot in the chest, not the back. This information, along with other new evidence, has prompted Whelan to call for a new independent investigation into Lennon’s assassination.
Ballistics expert Andrew Kerr notes that the two bullets might be different types based on the evidence tags, but confirms a photo alone cannot definitively prove this.
Whelan’s continuing investigation is now focusing on potential influences on Chapman, exploring theories of manipulation or even hypnosis by powerful entities with ties to right-wing Southern Baptist groups, the US military, or the CIA.
These startling revelations cast a new light on the John Lennon assassination, suggesting that the case may be far from closed. A new independent investigation may well be the path to discovering the full truth of this devastating event.
