By Static Live Magazine – We like our country with distortion pedals and our pop with a little bite.
Okay, let’s get this out of the way up front: Beyoncé doing country music?
Look, we love Queen Bey. She could harmonize with a leaf blower and still outsell most of the industry. But Cowboy Carter? That album made some of us want to trade in our boots for noise-canceling headphones.
So imagine our surprise when her Paris set actually brought the fire—thanks to Mr. Carter himself.
During the final night of her Paris run (June 22) at Stade de France, Beyoncé pulled a move straight from the “save the setlist” playbook and brought out Jay-Z. That’s right. The man. The myth. One of the Top 10 rappers of all time—no arguments accepted.
The couple, who haven’t tag-teamed a stage since their Global Citizen Mandela 100 performance back in 2018, reminded everyone what happens when you mix real star power with a legacy anthem. Bey was deep into “Crazy in Love” when she stepped aside, and out popped Hov like a mic-dropping magician.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get more “Paris,” he launched into N**s in Paris—because why not flex on a city you already own?
The crowd—full of Cowboy Carter converts, old-school Jay stans, and one very committed Cardi B in full rodeo drip—lost their minds. Meanwhile, Kelly Rowland and Tina Knowles were spotted cutting up in the VIP like it was 2004 all over again.
Other highlights from the night?
- A hybrid version of Drunk in Love with Partition sandwiched in, because subtlety is for ballads.
- Beyoncé pretending like she’s not backed by the biggest rapper on Earth every time she sings “Crazy in Love” solo.
- And for trivia nerds: this was the only night on the tour so far that “Drunk in Love” and “NIP” made the setlist.
Also worth noting: Miley Cyrus crashed Night 1 of the Paris run for a live debut of their duet II Most Wanted. So yes, Paris got the Beyoncé Cinematic Universe in full force this week.
And while we may roll our eyes at the Cowboy Carter cosplay, we’ll tip our (imaginary) hat to Bey for letting the man with the blueprint take center stage for once.
Let’s be real—Jay-Z didn’t just “join” the tour. He upgraded it.
