Renowned musician Jack White recently took to social media to voice his discontent over the outcome of the recent U.S. election, which saw Donald Trump win against Kamala Harris. White, who’s never shied away from speaking his mind, shared a lengthy and fiery post criticizing Trump and expressing shock over America’s choice.
“It’s staggering that so many Americans fell for this con man not just once, but twice,” White wrote in his post on Wednesday, November 6. The former White Stripes frontman didn’t mince words, referring to Trump as a “wannabe dictator” and expressing disbelief that Americans would choose someone he considers a “known, obvious fascist.”
Alongside his statement, White included a Turkish proverb to emphasize his disbelief that people would vote against their own interests. He went on to detail his concerns for what a second Trump term could mean for the country, mentioning potential policies such as Project 2025, which he warned could include a nationwide abortion ban and increased deportations.
“It’s unfathomable that this grifter managed to deceive so many,” White continued. He outlined a list of grievances, pointing to Trump’s controversial statements and actions, from encouraging people to “inject bleach” during the pandemic to calling veterans “suckers,” inciting the January 6th Capitol riot, and facing numerous legal issues. “A convicted felon and someone impeached twice, who has no respect for the American people,” White added. He also derided Trump’s public persona, describing him as a “fake Christian” using religious symbols for profit.
White’s post ended on a somber note, criticizing Trump’s support base and highlighting what he sees as hypocrisy. “The wealthy are laughing all the way to the bank, exploiting the working class while convincing them they’re on their side,” White wrote. “By giving him the popular vote, Americans have chosen their path, for better or worse.”
White’s disdain for Trump isn’t new; his criticism dates back to Trump’s 2016 campaign. Both he and former bandmate Meg White expressed outrage when Trump used their hit song “Seven Nation Army” during his campaign events, calling it an “illegal” association. Earlier this year, Trump used the track again, leading White to take legal action. In September, White filed a lawsuit, accusing Trump of “flagrant misappropriation” of one of rock’s most iconic songs.
White’s post has sparked conversations across social media, reflecting his unfiltered opinions and concerns for America’s future.
