Here we go again, rock fans. The Who—aka the ultimate underdog band of the ’70s and ’80s (yeah, we said it)—are officially packing it up and calling it a day on North American soil. Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend just announced their so-called final tour across the U.S. and Canada, dubbed the Song Is Over Tour. And while we’ve heard “farewell” from these guys before, something tells us this time they actually mean it. Maybe.
Starting August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, and wrapping up September 28 in the neon glow of Vegas, this is your last chance (supposedly) to witness the raw power of a band that’s been smashing guitars and eardrums since 1964. The tour marks a full-circle moment for The Who, whose music has aged like a fine whiskey—sharp, bold, and still packing a punch.
And let’s be honest: if you just discovered “Won’t Get Fooled Again” thanks to Tom Cruise’s sky-high antics in Top Gun: Maverick, welcome to the club, rookies. The Who have been soundtracking rebellion for decades, and their catalog is more than worthy of the newfound attention.
Of course, the band’s farewell story has its own twists. Back in ’82, they already said their goodbyes with a farewell tour, only to keep coming back for more like a boomerang of pure rock glory. Townshend recently told Rolling Stone that it wasn’t even their idea to hang it up back then—it was a marketing stunt. Classic rock and roll chaos.
But this time around, the vibe feels different. Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s wisdom—or maybe it’s just the final, glorious cash grab we all secretly love. Either way, we’ll be there front and center.
