Demi Lovato and Clean Bandit’s collaboration, “Solo,” has officially entered YouTube’s elite Billion Views Club. This 2018 hit, known for its catchy electronic dance beats, has captivated viewers globally, amassing over a billion views since its release in May 2018.
The visually captivating music video showcases Lovato’s powerful vocals, intercut with scenes of Clean Bandit members Jack and Luke Patterson concocting an enigmatic substance in a secret lab beneath a laundromat. The plot takes a whimsical turn when Clean Bandit’s Grace Chatto, portraying a laundromat patron, administers the substance to her boyfriend, transforming him into a vibrant, rainbow-colored canine.
Lovato’s dynamic lyrics, “Since you been gone/ I’ve been dancing on my own/ There’s boys up in my zone/ But they can’t turn me on,” resonate through the video, enhancing its appeal. The track debuted at No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2018, a month after its chart debut. Remarkably, it was also the most searched song on Shazam in 2018, with Nicky Jam and J Balvin’s “X” and Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa’s “One Kiss” trailing behind.
In August 2018, “Solo” experienced a significant streaming boost, climbing to No. 48 on the Streaming Songs chart, marking a 14 percent increase in streams. This surge came shortly after Lovato’s hospitalization due to a near-fatal overdose.
Currently, Lovato is preparing for “A Very Demi Holiday Special” set to air on Roku on December 8. This special will feature live performances from Lovato, alongside guest appearances from Paris Hilton, Tiffany Haddish, and Trixie Mattell.
