We’re not saying Monday night’s Voice Playoffs (April 28) were savage, but when you walk in with five singers and walk out with two, you know it was less of a talent show and more of a sonic bloodbath. Team Adam and Team Kelsea took the stage, each with five hopefuls and zero second chances. That’s right — no Steals, no Saves, just raw vocals and harder decisions.
Chris Stapleton and The Beatles: The Real MVPs
Team Kelsea’s Iris Herrera had the kind of moment that makes you stop scrolling and actually watch TV like it’s 2007. Her take on Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse” wasn’t just solid — it was fire-on-the-mountain level powerful. “You know you’re supposed to be here,” Kelsea told her through what we assume were professionally applied waterproof tears.
Also making it to the Live Shows? Alanna Lynise, whose haunting version of SZA’s “Nobody Gets Me” gave us the kind of chills we usually reserve for horror movies or whiskey neat. “Top tier, top shelf,” said Ballerini, clearly rating singers like she’s ordering bourbon at a dive bar.
Meanwhile, Team Adam played the nostalgia card with Lucia Flores-Wiseman crushing The Beatles’ “In My Life” like it was her autobiography. Adam Levine said she was on “another level.” We agree. She sang like a human vinyl record from a better era.
Then Kolby Cordell went full Bruno Mars with “Finesse,” and Adam practically threw his whole cardigan on stage in excitement. “Biggest and best on the show,” he said. Slow down, Adam — it’s only the Playoffs.
But Let’s Pour One Out…
Not everyone made it. Team Kelsea said goodbye to Jaelen Johnston, Darius J, and Tinika Wyatt. Team Adam axed Britton Moore, Conor James, and Ethan Eckenroad. All talented. All gone. This ain’t The Great British Bake Off — there are no hugs and consolation cakes.
Next week, Team Legend and Team Bublé enter the arena. Prepare for velvet jackets, smooth vocals, and probably a surprise modulation or two.
Before you go cry into your White Horse whiskey glass…
