Carly Rae Jepsen has put the challenge forward to her fan base to unveil the song list of her upcoming album, ‘The Loveliest Time.’ The Canadian pop star used a creative tactic to engage her fans, introducing a crossword puzzle that hints at the titles of her new songs.
Drawing from a previous experience when her name was featured in a New York Times crossword, Jepsen decided to make her own and tweeted, “I once made it into a New York Times crossword – a career high for me. My dad and I thought I had peaked, and I was ready to either retire or throw a party. As I forgot to do both, I thought I’d wait for the opportunity to craft my own crossword. Now is the time. Here are some charming clues to get you started on guessing our tracklist. Share your answers, and let’s see who gets it right! The Loveliest Time is just 10 days away.”
Jepsen attached the complete crossword challenge – dubbed “The Loveliest Crossword” – to her tweet. The puzzle features clues rooted in earlier song lyrics and various word definitions, structured in the traditional across and down format. She gave fans a helping hand with several pre-filled letters.
The comment section soon buzzed with fans’ attempts to solve the puzzle, successfully figuring out some of the tracks. The consensus amongst them suggests “Kollage,” “Put It to Rest,” and “Come Over” as definite inclusions in the album. Track 4 remains a mystery, with potential options including “Psychedelic Strain,” “Psychedelic Shroom,” or “Psychedelic Summer.”
On July 6, Jepsen announced her new album, ‘The Loveliest Time,’ a sequel to 2022’s ‘The Loneliest Time.’ She emphasized that the upcoming LP is not a collection of “B-sides or cast-off ideas,” but a complete set reflecting her journey exploring love, loneliness, and self-discovery. ‘The Loveliest Time’ is slated to launch on July 28.
