Beyoncé Plays Cowboy, Delivers Baby Gender Reveal on Tour — But We’re Still Not Buying the Country Act

Beyoncé. Pop icon. Global powerhouse. Undisputed Queen of polished choreography and viral anthems. But now… she’s apparently a country artist. And listen—we’re not here to gatekeep genres (okay, maybe just a little), but this Cowboy Carter thing? It feels more like a Halloween costume with a label budget than a heartfelt two-step into Nashville territory.

Still, we’ve got to give her this: at a recent Cowboy Carter tour stop in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Bey pulled off a gender reveal for two VIP fans during a rain-soaked set. We’re talking sticky hands, soggy envelopes, and a piece of paper that said one word: “cowboy.”

Yep, it’s a boy. Beyoncé grinned, said her congrats, and thanked the couple for letting her be part of the moment. Sweet? Absolutely. Memorable? You bet. Country? Debatable at best.

Let’s be honest—this whole era is giving more “Yeehaw Barbie” than “Johnny Cash Revival.” We love Beyoncé (who doesn’t?), and her attempt to break into the country scene is admirable on paper. But while she’s out there wrangling baby reveals and dropping line-dance anthems, we can’t help but miss the Bey who gave us “Crazy in Love” and “Formation”—tracks that didn’t need a cowboy hat to slap.

And sure, she can sell out MetLife Stadium twice in a week, she can headline in London and Paris, and she can probably duet with a tumbleweed and still go platinum. But at the end of the dusty trail, this whole cowgirl cosplay tour feels more calculated than country. Call us jaded, but we’d rather see Beyoncé dominate pop for another decade than pretend Nashville was her first rodeo.

That said, we’re not made of stone. Watching her light up the stage and bring joy to expecting parents live is exactly the kind of spectacle we expect from Queen B. It was wholesome, heartfelt, and… yeah, we teared up a little. But you still won’t catch us calling Cowboy Carter the next Red Dirt classic.
