Halloween is the time for transformation, and pop sensation Ariana Grande and her longtime friend Elizabeth Gillies did not disappoint. The dynamic duo, known for their roles in Nickelodeon’s Victorious, took a leap from their childhood roles to pay homage to the 1995 classic, Showgirls.
On October 30th, the pair unveiled a captivating photo series on Instagram, showcasing their meticulous Halloween looks. Ariana embodied the character of Nomi Malone, originally portrayed by Elizabeth Berkley, while Liz flawlessly stepped into Gina Gershon’s role as Cristal Connors. Their outfits, seemingly straight from the movie’s wardrobe, and their captions borrowed iconic lines, adding authenticity to their tribute.
Gillies captioned one memorable photo, “You and me…we’re exactly alike,” which is reminiscent of the complex relationship between Nomi and Cristal in the film. The pair also traded other memorable lines, with Liz quoting Gershon’s famous, “You are a whore, Darlin’!” and an impactful, “There’s always someone younger and hungrier coming down the stairs after you.”
Ariana, in a nod to Berkley’s character Nomi, captioned one of her posts: “different places!!!!!” – referencing a pivotal scene from the movie.
This isn’t the duo’s first foray into meticulous Halloween re-creations. Previously, they embodied characters from the Christopher Guest mockumentary, Best in Show. Gillies channeled Jane Lynch’s Christy Cummings, while Grande paid homage to Jennifer Coolidge’s Sherri Ann Cabot and even transformed into Eugene Levy’s character, Gerry Fleck, complete with his signature eyebrows.
